ABOUT KIX.

Born and raised in a small town, Kix Patterson started his career in journalism at the age of 18 with two FM radio stations in North Mississippi.  

He graduated from the University of Memphis in May of 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors, Cum Laude in Journalism and Strategic Media. His concentration was in Creative Mass Media and his minor was in graphic design. He won countless awards and honors, including the UofM Alumni Association JRSM Club's 2018 Emerging Media Professional of the year.

Kix continued his education at the University of Memphis with a Master's degree in Integrated Strategic Media. His research focused on minority representation in media and digital trends.

Now 27 years old, Kix is continuing his education at the University of Florida with a Ph. D. in Telecommunications and Media Use. His research focuses on LGBTQ+ representation, historical representation, and visual communication including news photography.

Kix currently works as the Vice President of Operations and Programming for the Eagle Radio Network, a hometown radio network serving three states and nearly 1 million listeners.

Kix was also the host of MEM Underground on Memphis community station WYXR-FM, showcasing the best underground punk and rock artists Memphis has to offer!

 

Kix also pays the bills with freelance projects across Memphis, Northeast Mississippi, Northwest Alabama, Northern Florida and beyond with his company Kix Patterson and Associates, LLC.
